Ibn Ahmad ar-Raqmi (ابن أحمد الرقمي)

Salam, I am Syafiq Daniel, also known as Ibn Ahmad ar-Raqmi. Since I was a child, I have always been deeply interested in computers and technology. I started learning to read and understand English mainly because of the internet. The Islamic Golden Age provides huge motivation for me to keep learning and sharing, without focusing primarily on profit. This is one of the reasons why I really love the open-source community, doing everything for the love of the game.

Academic-wise, I am pursuing a PhD in Information Technology. Recently, I became very interested in Data Science and AI Machine Learning after understanding how machine learning works under the hood. It makes me think about how massive our human data in our DNA is compared to the math formulas we humans have created for machines. In fact, the more I research, the more I find everything related to the verses of the Qur'an and the Hadiths. This is one of the signs that makes me certain a Creator exists.

As a Linux enthusiast, customizability and privacy really opened the door for me to realize that we can truly own our computers, allowing us to do anything and experiment with them. This is somewhat contradictory to the path I'm taking, which is ironic because a Data Scientist needs data, while I am also embracing privacy. But this is great, because in Islam, we must always balance things in life. It’s crazy that people actually read until here. Praises be to the Lord of the worlds.
